Homeless Project
Our Homeless Project currently focuses on those who, for various reasons, are unable to be involved in standard programs. Generally, this means that we work with those who have made bad decisions in the past (resulting in criminal charges that bar them from standard programs) or those that are still making bad decisions and are trapped in addictive behavior. These are often referred to as “chronically” homeless. Every Sunday, we prepare and deliver around 40 meals to several of the “unofficial” homeless camps in Pinellas County. We also provide clothing, toiletries, and other items, as God supplies.
As a result of this ministry, between 6 and 10 individuals are currently attending weekly services. Several have made professions of faith, been baptized and joined that church.
4 individuals have been successfully moved away from homelessness and into programs
or semi-permanent living situations.
Currently, the team that delivers the meals is made of Jay Eshelman, 1-2 members of his Sunday morning connection group and 1-3 of the homeless individuals who have begun attending services.
